For those of you who don’t know, I moved to Philadelphia for three months, this past Saturday. I’m here as a social media intern for Urban Outfitters. With that being said, you could say I’m freaking out a little bit. This is the first time I’m completely on my own. Coupled with that fear, though, is excitement for this new opportunity. I get to be in a new place, making new friends, and creating new experiences.

Now that I’m all settled in, I started thinking what decisions led me to this moment? Of course, number one would be applying for the internship, but I believe one other thing had to happen before I could get to number one.

I had to believe in myself, trust in my abilities, and keep pushing.

I’ve said it so many times, but with self-acceptance, self-confidence, and self-sufficiency you can accomplish anything. I started pursuing photography a little over a year ago and have grown immensely. Though I still have a lot to learn, I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t take that first step.

We live in a world where people are afraid to take that first step for countless reasons. They think people will laugh at them, they don’t think they’re good enough, they believe someone else already does it better… the list goes on and on. I’m here to tell you if you want to pursue something, do it!

Start now! The more time you waste trying to decide if you maybe want to do something is precious time towards your success wasted.

Time is so important and valuable. Make sure you are using yours wisely. Spend time perfecting your skills, trying out new experiences, and really opening your eyes to the many opportunities the world has to offer.

Each and everyone of us has the potential to be a shinning star in this country. Our actions determine whether or not our dreams can become a reality.
